About Us

Our Mission

Our mission is to serve delicious, nutritious food and provide excellent service with exceptional care, integrity, and professionalism. Our main goal is to provide wholesome school food while teaching a healthy message to children, making it possible for schools and other children's programs to have outstanding food and nutrition programs. We specialize in healthy food, nutrition education, and expert services.

Our Story

In August 2007, DRF's founding partners, Caldoun Abuhakel and Mary Hunn joined together to establish a catering company whose mission was to serve delicious, nutritionally-balanced, freshly homemade meals to K-12 students in the Twin Cities area. With Caldoun's business knowledge and Mary's years of experience as a dietitian for the Minnesota Department of Education, they began cooking, serving, and delivering meals to three schools out of a private school kitchen.  


Since those humble beginnings, DRF has grown from a team of two to 50+ employees. Moving into our own kitchen in 2012 and adding administrative space in 2019 gave our team the resources we need to serve thousands of meals each and every day to our continually growing list of school partners. The private school that offered its kitchen in 2007 still receives our meals every day!
